The 4th Falls on Thursday in 2019. 

The 4th of July festivities will be held, as is traditional, on the 4th of July (Thursday). The day begins with a Pancake Breakfast at the Federated Church from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Then the day moves into the 9:00 a.m. line-up for the annual parade at the High School parking lot. Starting at 10:00 a.m., the parade will proceed South on East Avenue to Michigan Avenue, then along Michigan Avenue to Lake Street in downtown, then heading North along Lake Street to the County Park on Grass Lake. There is no registration form for the parade. Just show up at the High School for the line-up.

 The parade ends at the park at around 12:30 to 1:00 p.m. where the Grass Lake Sportsman’s Club will offer its annual Chicken Broil. Grab a chicken dinner and hang around in the park for some good music and activities including a Cardboard Boat Race that begins at 1:30.

The race is sponsored by the Grass Lake Leos Club and features a whole variety of cardboard boats both 1-man and 2-man that float amazing well….and then some that don’t. Entry fees are $5.00 for a single person boat and $10.00 per two person boat. Trophies will be awarded to winners another finishers both the 1 and 2 man classes.
